Before it had a name, this knife had a soul.
This 9” K-tip chef knife is forged from my Celestial Storm Mosaic Damascus. Hundreds of pieces of steel, layered, folded and hammered hard until the pattern came alive. Wild flowing waves mixed with sharp starry bursts that shift and flash like a storm raging across the ocean’s night sky.
A real signature on this piece is the bolster. I cast my own custom copper alloy right here in the shop using spent range brass from my second passion, shooting targets, mixed with leftover copper wiring from my old house-building days. I throw it in a crucible, crank the forge until it is liquid fire and pour it into a graphite mold.
It took trial and error, pulling hot samples, until I landed on this rich golden-bronze hue that has become my trademark. Warm, tough and full of real history.
I hand-textured that bolster so you can feel every mark.
I paired it with a stunning piece of dyed and stabilized maple burl, with deep storm blues shooting through it and flashes of silver and copper like lightning across the waves. A single sterling silver pin locks it down solid.
The whole knife is balanced slightly forward, hungry to work.
This is a real working chef knife, meant to be admired and used. The sharp K-tip excels at precise detail while the blade powers through vegetables, meat, herbs and everything else the kitchen throws at it.
Several hard days went into this one at the bench. Forging, grinding, fitting, finishing and chasing every line until it felt right.
God gets all the glory. He gave me the hands, the fire and the stubbornness to keep hammering. I am just grateful I got to build it.
Tempest is a serious, high-performance chef knife built tough, built with story and priced to go home.
Ready to find its new owner.
